TablEdit Users Say:

"I have been thrilled for several years now with so many aspects of TablEdit and respect for the creators and 'maintainers' that I don't quite no where to begin. Not only have I been able to release an entire book of most of my material using this fine product but it has also provided both myself and many of my students with an undercurrent of continuing musical education."

What's New in TablEdit V2.65

V.2.65
  • PAGE MODE - now displays partial systems at the bottom of the screen and scroller is located on the right edge of the screen to move up and down the tab. To select "Page Mode" remove check mark from "MultiTrack" on "Options->General" or keep [Shift] held down when clicking on the "M" button.
  • MULTITRACK MODE - By default, all the modules share the same Tablature/Notation screen mode. You can, however, specify a different screen mode for a given module in the Multitrack tab. The specified screen mode will remain unchanged when changing the general screen mode of the tablature unless you make the change from within the module concerned.
  • CHOKE EFFECT - bend amounts other than 1/4 tone can be selected by Pressing [Shift]+[>] to increase or [Shift]+[<] to decrease. You can get choke amounts of 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, etc. NOTE: "Extended bends/slides" must be selected in "Options->Advanced" to get choke increases greater than 1.
  • ARTIFICAL HARMONICS - you can now insert artificial harmonics on the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th intervals that work just like natural harmonics on the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th frets. Enter an artifical harmonic as normal, then press [Shift]+[>] or [Shift]+[<] to get to the desired interval. AH(fret) is displayed above the note in the standard notation to indicate where the artifical harmonic is to be played.
  • MULTIPLE VOICE AUTOMATIC RESTS - a new "X2" option is available on the "Options-Display" tab. if check marked, it will insert rests automatically for the upper (melody) and lower (bass) voices. To get the best results, you should force stems upward for the upper voice and stems downward for the lower voice. The 3rd string open G (G1) is used to determine whether a rest is upper voice or lower voice.
  • SAVING OPTION CONFIGURATION - Selecting "Save/Load Configuration with files" in "Options->"Advanced" now creates tablature specific settings. For instance if you have a multiple tabs loaded, and both have been saved with the "Save/Load..." check marked, changing an option setting for one will not affect the other.
  • DOUBLE BEAM ON A SINGLE NOTE - you can get an upward and downward stem on a single note. Press [O] or [Shift][O] to toggle between single and double note stems. NOTE: this works only for a single note. If multiple notes are present (a chord), the [O] or [Shift]+[O] will shift the note head right or left respectively.
  • 1/4 NOTE TRIPLET BEAM - improved display of 1/4 triplets. The triplet beam now slants upwards and downwards to match the note stems. Also no stem is drawn to rests.
  • SLIDES - new options for notating slide to an unknown fret or slide from an unknown fret. Enter a normal slide, then press [Shift]+[>] or [Shift]+[<] to toggle through the various slides (normal, Slide-To up, Slide-To down, Slide-From up, Slide-From down).
  • FINGERING TRANSPARENCY - Fret and pick hand fingerings now have a transparent background. They can be placed in the notation/tablature so the background does not overlay any notes, strings, etc. TIP: to add pick hand fingerings into the notation, enter the fingering on an empty string and select "Above Tablature". Press the [UP-ARROW] or [DOWN-ARROW] to position the fingering text. You can also select "Format" from the right mouse context menu for more precise positioning. A similar operation can be used to position fingering text in the tablature. Just remove the "Above Tablature" check mark.
  • MIDI RECORDING - tabs can now be created from a midi capable instrument (keyboard, guitar, etc). Click the new record button on the main toolbar and any inputs from the midi device are entered into the tab.
  • ADJUST TO n PAGES PRINT OPTION - a new print option that will adjust the printed output to fit on the specified number of pages.
  • PROTECTED SAVE IMPROVED - In addition to previous method based on the cursor position, you are now able to use alternatively a arbitrarily chosen code.
  • COPY PASTE WHOLE MEASURES FROM A FILE TO ANOTHER ONE - In the past you were only able to copy and paste measures inside the same .tef file. You are now able to perform this task between all open documents which have the same structure, i.e. the same number of instruments and strings.
  • OPEN GUITAR-PRO AND POWERTAB FILES (Mac Only) - Tabledit now opens files created by Guitar-Pro and PowerTab. This works the same as the Windows converter available on the registered users page.
