TablEdit Users Say:
"I was first introduced to TablEdit by one of my students (I was using another tab program at the time). At first, TablEdit looked a little more confusing to use... so I was afraid to switch. Later, I was submitting tabs to Banjo Newsletter and Ian Perry (an editor with the magazine and good friend) told me that TablEdit was what he used in transcribing for Bela Fleck and Tony Trischka. At Ian's suggestion I decided to give it a try. Boy was I wrong! TablEdit was not only easier to use, but much more flexible that what I had been using. As a professional banjo teacher (for over 20 years) TablEdit has come in handy many times to make tabs for students, submit to magazines and even email to players around the world! Being able to listen to the midi files is also great for proofing the tabs (I can locate my mistakes much faster by listening than by proofreading)." Ned Luberecki - Tennessee, USA

TablEdit Manual v2.65
Installation
| |
Installing the program
To install TablEdit, you'll need to unpack the SIT file and place its component files on your hard drive. Unstuff the .sit archive into a folder of it's own (using Stuffit Expander 5.0+) and copy the TEF260 font suitcase into the system Fonts folder (Classic) or TEF265.TTF True Type Font into the "\users\your name\Library\Fonts" folder (OS X).
To run the shareware version of the program, double click on TablEdit Application in the Finder, or create an alias on the Desktop. No specific installation routine is required. The toolbar icons and the tool palettes in the main Tabledit window are very useful, as is this help file, for guiding you in the use of the software.
Keep in mind that the TablEdit Demo is a demo package with certain critical limitations. You can open and play a .tef file and modify the MIDI options to alter the sound you hear when you play the music, but DO NOT try to "re-save" the file when you are done listening to it. The demo version only saves 16 measures of tab, so you'll lose most of what you downloaded. If you want to print the file, go ahead and explore the page options available, tab or notation only, tab and musical stave, with or without chord diagrams, etc.
Re-installation
In order to restore all of the default parameters, simply start TablEdit while keeping the [alt] key held down.
